Boleh Devastated by Fire
Photographs taken of Boleh while in Roger Angel’s ownership. The photographs show the damage, right to the waterline, sustained by the junk yacht during an arson attack in 1978. At the time of the fire, Boleh was owned by the German businessman Ingo Farmont, and she was worth approximately £30,000. Mr. Farmont had bought the yacht in a derelict condition, and had refitted her. The fire happened while Boleh was in the Sandrock Marina at Rye, East Sussex.
Roger Angel bought the wreck and was so quick on the scene to bid for her that the yacht was still being hosed down by fireman. It was even wondered if Roger had been involved in starting the fire he was there so quickly.
